Kenyon Class of 2020 - Regular Decision

D accepted! We didn’t visit, but she interviewed. No merit offered, but not surprised. Her SAT was 2240, GPA is about 3.75.

Dtr accepted with 15k merit scholarship.
Also accepted to BC honors and Brandeis but rejected at Middlebury and WAITLISTED at U of Chicago

I forgot to mention that I was also awarded a Newman’s Own Foundation scholarship, which eliminates the loan portion of a FA package ($3,500 for me). I don’t know if that counts as real merit aid though, since on the website it states Newman’s Owns recipients are primarily “socioeconomically disadvantaged, with priority given to those from underrepresented backgrounds, including first-generation students.” But still very thankful for it!

@alooknac

Thanks

I don’t think those numbers bode well for anybody looking at the waitlist. 1.7% percent chances of getting in. Would’ve had a better chance of getting in to Harvard…

Seems like both Kenyon & now Grinnell were pretty yield conscious this year, lots of people accepted at one with merit & waitlisted (or rejected) at the other.

D accepted and is very excited as she thought it was a reach school. Hard decisions ahead. She visited and interviewed with an alum.

Rejected with a 91 GPA and 32 ACT.

Congratulations to all those who were accepted!

DD was accepted at both Kenyon (no merit) and Grinnell (merit) but likely to not attend either. Go figure.

^ Same for me, but I am keeping them both under consideration

^ ditto my S, but Grinnell definitely in the running.

D waitlisted.
2110 SAT
National Merit Commended
top 10% in class
Very Good Extracurriculars.
Literary magazine editor.

accepted!
3.63 uw GPA
33 ACT superscored
lots of extracurriculars and leadership
love my admissions counselor, I had an interview on campus that went very well and we kept in touch through email
visited twice

I was shocked, I was convinced that I would be waitlisted. no merit, but incredibly generous financial aid- my Kenyon offer is cheaper than an in state school after scholarships! kids with so so grades don’t lose hope, I think that a very personal essay and lots of demonstrated interest saved me!

Son waitlisted
4.2 GPA 32 ACT
Top 5% class
3 yr varsity athlete, 2 yr captain at one of state’s largest HIgh Schools. Being from Ohio though probably didn’t help him. Congrats to those that got in.

I’ve looked on the information available online for admitted students, and I haven’t been able to find an answer to this…is there a Kenyon 2020 Facebook group that we can join?

Waitlisted with 2230 sat and 3.9 gpa, national merit commended
Accepted to Carleton, Macalester and Grinnell with merit aid
Deferred and then rejected from Colorado College, rejected from Middlebury
Still waiting on a few more

Congrats to everyone that got in!!

Waitlisted with 3.88 GPA (unweighted) and 2200.
Accepted to Williams (early write), Grinnell (w/ Founder’s Scholarship), and CSULB.
Waitlisted at UChicago and UCLA.

Congratulations to everyone accepted! I’m sure you’ll all thrive at Kenyon.

Accepted (no merit) with 3.45 (unweighted) and 31 ACT, no interview. White male, suburban, independent school. No interview. #pleasantlysurprised

D waitlisted at Kenyon, Macalester, and Grinnell! It must be a very tough game in those admissions offices, but from seeing the stats that others have posted I think these smaller schools are really trying to build a class that can work together not just all be the highest achievers ever. Congrats to those who got in! Luckily, one of my D’s first choice schools has already offered a nice package. Waiting for a few more decisions - I will be so glad when this part is over!

Anyone know if there’s a class of 2020 group on Facebook? Tried looking for one, but nothing came up.

@organize there’s definitely one. I’ve seen it and my friend is part of it. Here’s the link https://www.facebook.com/groups/KenyonClassof2020/
