@lovetheprocess the facebook groups are for all accepted students, so you’re good. Usually they’re set up by the school and can help with questions and meeting people, although Kenyon has seemed to have forgotten about it this year…
Did anyone in the RD round hear about the Kenyon Writing Award or become a Kenyon KEEP Scholar?
Ohh my goodness! I got accepted after being on the waitlist! I am so happy, to anyone else that sees this and is on the wait list, don’t lose hope!
I know this is an old thread, but I asked about lofts and wanted to update our experience. So, about a week or two before Orientation DS emailed his CA about getting a loft during move-in. She couldn’t guarantee he’d get one since there are limited quantities.
Move-in Day comes and we were there early. Move in starts at 10am, we were parked rightnext to his dorm by 8:30-ish. I highly recommend this strategy. Park, then go get some breakfast in Gambier. Or run through the drive thru at Tim Horton’s and plop down on one of the picnic tables outside the dorms w/ your treats.
Anyway, get there early. The dorms will be open by 9ish, you just won’t be able to actually get your keys or get into your room. As DS found his room, his CA was coming out of hers right next door. So he introduced himself & asked again about lofts. DS got his keys within a few minutes of 10am, and there were 2 sets of lofts and a rubber mallet sitting outside his room when we walked in. That rubber mallet ended up being a hot commodity as other kids stopped into DS’s room to ask how he’d lofted the beds. So if you’re coming from relatively nearby & already have a rubber mallet at home, it might be a smart thing to toss into the car.
We set up the lofts & rearranged the furniture before unloading our cars. As soon as our cars were empty, we moved them so others could take our spots. We had DS completely moved in & unpacked/set up by 11:30am.
Even better, do a pre-Orientation program and move in a week early. My daughter got all moved into her room before almost anyone else was there. The pre-O program (hiking and rafting in WV) was really great and did all the thing you hope a program like that would do. I strongly recommend it!
