Congratulations to everyone who got accepted! I just got accepted as well with a 1500 sat and a 4.00 UW GPA! @JTCREIGHTON99- I can’t seem to find the financial aid anywhere on the letter and there is no link. Has anyone else experienced this?
Waitlisted
@baby dragon the financial aid is under the link that is just the date, it doesn’t mention anything about financial aid but there it is. Congratulations!
congrats, all! for ED peeps: anyone know when scholarship info is coming out? thought they’d come out with RD, but there’s been no update
Is there anyone who did NOT hear today that applied RD?
Not sure, my D refuses to check her email until after her mock trial competition tomorrow.
@hankrearden, I respect that. What will power.
Got waitlisted. Does anyone know how many people are pulled off the waitlist at Kenyon? Should I write a letter about continued demonstrated interest or would that be annoying?
Waitlisted!
D was waitlisted. Kind of a head-scratcher after she was accepted to Williams with a Tyng Scholarship. Also accepted to Middlebury today. At this level, I suppose you can’t predict the outcome. In any case, we’re very happy with results so far, and we hope that everyone finds a place to be happy and productive.
For all people who got accepted, did you get an email about a free flight from your home airport to Columbus?? Kinda surprised because I didn’t get any merit money
@doody1425 I also got an email about Kenyon covering airfare to/from the Columbus airport. I was surprised as well, but am definitely not complaining about free tickets haha!
I got it too! Excited to fly out there
Update: Her concentration on the mock trial competition paid off and her team advanced to nationals. She finally checked the portal and discovered she is accepted to Kenyon.
Yes I received the airfare email as well! Really makes me want to go visit again. It’s such a beautiful campus.
Wait list, 1450 SAT, 8 ap’s., 3.91 UW, many EC’s, did interview but couldn’t afford to visit and needed financial aid I’ve heard in the past they have one of the 5 biggest wait list in the entire country, not sure if is total or percentage. Not sure if it’s the same as last year but giving up anyways.
Accepted with 15K per year scholarship. I’m pretty sure the interview helped me a lot; I really wish I had gotten interviews for more of the colleges to which I’ve applied. Some of my stats: 2220 SAT, 33 ACT; IB program with 4 HLs; I have a solid mix of extracurriculars, nothing too extraordinary
I’m having a hard time if my letter was personalized or used in everyone’s letter. Here is my second paragraph: “Building a Kenyon class is a delicate process because we choose each member for the unique contributions he or she will make to this community. Thus, we look carefully at the personal as well as the academic qualities of our applicants. We are impressed by the extent of your accomplishments in and out of the classroom. With your potential as both a scholar and a leader, you strike us as someone who will make a lasting mark at Kenyon. We shall be delighted to spend the next four years with you!”
Is this different from you guys? Did they see me as a “potential scholar and a leader who will make a lasting mark at Kenyon,” or is that just what they say to everyone?
2nd paragraph: “What an interesting application you present! We believe you have the makings of a fine Kenyon student. Each student here is valued for his or her own special achievements, and what you have told us about yourself, particularly in your remarkable essay, suggests that you, too, will make a unique contribution to campus life. We had many good applicants to Kenyon this year, but you stood out among them as a splendid candidate.”
Hey, that’s pretty impressive to have a “remarkable” essay at a college known for attracting writers!
That’s good to know that they’re individual! It’s interesting that Kenyon saw me as a leader despite the fact that I haven’t been a leader in any clubs or anything. Maybe they saw my streak of independence in my essay or something?
