Kenyon College: Regular Decision Class of 2021

Interesting discussions. S was accepted with the following 2nd. paragraph:

I am happy to offer you admission because I think you are a particularly strong prospect for Kenyon. With both your classroom accomplishments and your extracurricular activities, you have demonstrated that you have the enthusiasm and determination to be a most successful Kenyon student. You have much in common with those students who appreciate the value of a small, close-knit college community.

My son was accepted! We love this school.

My son also received the airfare email as well. He will be visiting soon.

My second paragraph: Your application to Kenyon, Jenna, was excellent. Not only did your recommendations praise your past successes, they also spoke to your potential achievements. Your solid record in the classroom and your involvement in your community made it clear that you would be a wonderful addition to this close-knit, energetic, and intellectually engaged community. We look for students who have both curiosity and talent, who will be both reflective as well as active in their pursuit of knowledge and within their community – and you are just that student. I cannot think of a better match between a college and student.

here’s mine!

[my name], I know that you have already tarried in Gambier, spending a brief summer sojourn as a Kenyon Review Young Writer. I heard much about you from your mentors at Young Writers, who claimed that Kenyon is the perfect muse for such a talented wordsmith. I agree. Though I knew of your talent as a writer, I was impressed to learn of your involvement with The Scribbler and its coffeehouses and your interest in pursuing work in sociology and political science. You have played an important role inside and outside the classrooms at [my high school’s name], and you are someone who will take full advantage of the Kenyon experience. Your ability as a scholar, your intellectual curiosity, and your passion for writing will find a ready home on Gambier hill.

Accepted as a KEEP scholar (meaning all of my loans are eliminated, causing me to have a “full ride” for all four years because I’m poor af lmao). My second paragraph said the following:
(Name), it is with pleasure and enthusiasm that I offer you admission to Kenyon College because yours was an application not to be missed. We look for students who have a passion for learning. Your love of English and your interest in learning more about creative writing will be well served in Kenyon’s classrooms. We were also impressed with your involvement in riflery which demonstrates even further that you have the energy and drive to be a most successful student. You share a great deal with Kenyon students because you appreciate what a close-knit, lively community means for your education.
Excited to see what Kenyon has to offer me and all of you as well! (Also their status portal update with the cute ribbons and confetti is pretty adorable)

Cool, I have received the following 2nd paragraph:

Ahmed, your application was most impressive, and we are very pleased to welcome you to Kenyon. Your intellectual curiosity, your dedication to excellence, and your talent as a scholar and scientist will enrich and enliven this community. In return, Kenyon offers you a challenging, stimulating, world-renowned liberal arts curriculum. Your desire to explore further the study of mathematics and physics will be well served by the extensive science curriculum here as well as by the numerous research opportunities available to students.

Mine is: International students are an important component of each Kenyon class. You bring a personal and cultural diversity that will enrich and enliven this community. Likewise, Kenyon, with its prestigious academic reputation, offers you a challenging, stimulating and vital liberal arts curriculum. We hope you decide to accept our offer of admission.

@Honito - sounds like your D might have stats that made her seem less likely to accept, maybe? my D got a scholarship to Kenyon, rejected from Middlebury.

My second paragraph said: Some of the nation’s brightest young scholars apply to Kenyon for admission, and, (name), your talent and accomplishments stood out even in that group. Your application was excellent, well-written and thoughtful, and your recommendations were stellar. What a fine record you have earned at Wellsville High School, and what a good match you are with Kenyon. This vibrant community will provide another venue for your talents, new worlds for you to explore.

I received a Kenyon Promise Scholarship, for $10,000 per year, which is good because it’s a pretty expensive college. How strong of a student gets these scholarships on average?

Also, I plan to major in neuroscience. Has anyone heard anything about the strength of Kenyon’s neuroscience program or is anyone else here planning on going for this same major?

@apguy17 mine said the same as yours.

My second paragraph stated “It may be true that “all the world’s a stage,” and the Bolton Theater stage here at Kenyon is a special little part of the world. Given your passion for the theater, you are sure to enjoy and participate in various Bolton productions. Theater is at the heart of life at Kenyon, which persuades us that you and our college will be a splendid match.”

Jillian8888, that’s exactly the same paragraph my DD received. Interesting. Some admitted applicants clearly received individualized letters while others did not.

I think we got an individualized letter. I’m curious how many students they actually fly out to visit?

Has anyone on the waitlist heard back?
