whos applying ed 2 , results, stats, hopefuls

I applied to knox, kalamazoo, beloit, rhodes, and got into all of them, then visited kenyon and applied ED2. I’m a big hopeful. where else did u guys apply?

30 act
3.7 unweighted
top 30% of class

i thought ed2 would help chances of admission, but everyone who applied ed2 has shown great interest, and had great interviews, so i don’t know how much of a help it will be

anyone else?

My son’s college counselor told us that Kenyon admitted a lot of students via the ED1 process this year so they would probably admit few via EDII and RD might actually be less competitive.

well do they still defer people to regular from ed2 rather than just reject or accept?

I don’t know; I imagine they still defer.

ddominick, I applied EDII my stats are exactly like yours!

and i’ve also heard that there may be less people accepted EDII this year

yeah thats too bad. i think edII kind of comes off as if the people got rejected from their first ED1 school and are applying out of desperation. I just got started late visiting colleges and didnt get to visit gambier until about a week before the deadline. where else did u apply?

also a big hopeful. 1950 combined sats (math pretty low, 600). 3.6 unweighted GPA. very “typical” kenyon applicant…hoping my writing/display of interest will help me stand out

i applied to colorado college, wash. u in st. louis, oberlin (all reaches), skidmore, and american

so we hear a few days after the 1st, right?

looks like we’re all so far in the same boat. yeah, judging from the last thread with Kenyon ED1 people, the letters will be sent out on the 1st

good luck!

Kenyon typically defers people who do not get admitted to ED1 or 2 so if you are worried about the RD being easier then you will be fine because you will get placed into that if you don’t get into Kenyon ED

^^What do you mean “if you are worried about the RD being easier”?

Applied to Kenyon EDII

a huugee hopeful - intl applicant from Latvia, female

GPA: uhmm no idea could be around 3,2-3,6 depends on how they will calculate it (grade deflation is very strong in our school)

TOP 25% of the grad class (in a State Gymnasium among the best 5% schools in the whole country), have skipped my Junior Year.

IELTS 7.0, no SAT or ACT scores.

I would say pretty good ECs, an exchange year (junior) in DK (studying in Danish HS) among them.

I liked both the essays and recs.

No interview or campus visit.

HUGE fin aid need- I could afford maybe 10k per year.

Personally, I can already smell a rejection or deferral. :(

i think its cool to see all the internationals applying. how do you hear about kenyon? it’s hard enough finding people who know about it here in the U.S. On the upside of your worries, you’ll find out that monday at least. I’m going to be waiting all week for it to come in the mail. what do you guys plan on majoring in?

When I first heard of Kenyon (from my Ed.USA counsellor) I was pretty sure I’m already in My EducationUSA counsellor said that, in case if I get admitted, that would be like the perfect match for my personality and goals. At first, since i wasn’t familiar with the US educational system, I was very sceptical about Kenyon and LACs in general and thought they’re more like a safety. And Kenyon was like a completely unknown name. People here know about HYP, Stanford and MAAAYBE several know Duke, Boston, Chicago as well. But yeah… Then after months of checking, reading and contacting the staff I understood that it’s actually a high reach for nearly any intl (esp those requiring a solid pack of aid), and a huge reach for me So I understood my chances and the fact that Kenyon has really grown on me and applied EDII, since RD chances would be even lower and I would die of waiting.

My major choices are:
Environmental Sc
Visual Arts
Intl Relations

In future I plan on becoming an urban planner :)

International here too. Asking for A LOT of need-based aid. I seriously have no money.

SAT I: 2070 (retook in Jan and hoping to get around 2200)
SAT II: Math 740, Bio E 640
TOEFL iBT: 111/120
GPA: 9.5/10
Great recs, good EC’s.

^^I guess stats are nice, though not enough to get me in with decent full fin aid package, so I’m expecting rejection. ;<

So, letters are presumably sent out tomorrow for EDII decisions… does anyone know if this is true and/or when past EDII applicants have heard back? The suspense is killing me!

well, it seems that a lot of ED 1 people got their letters one to two days after it was mailed, so wednesday or thursday. although… there is a huge snow storm hitting illinois so i hope that doesnt screw me over

GAAH! It should’ve already been on my e-mail!

oh yea, internationals are supposed to get the email today. good luck!!!
