FOR DEFEREES IF accepted, reasons why you think so, actions you took after being deferred, etc…:

I received my letter this past Friday, and I was deferred. I’ve since been in quiet devastation, haha. I think my having only one teacher recommendation may be a reason for it, but I’m not sure. idk, I just feel horrible…everywhere inside me is a giant stomach ache, heh.

What would you guys recommend I do? This is really the only college I want to be in, and I had been confident I would actually be accepted…I know already that I’m going to send them another teacher recommendation, but what else? I need to get in. I sent two emails to the admissions offices also, one to admissions@kenyon.edu and another to the person who interviewed me when I visited, both of the letters requesting information in different ways. I thought I originally showed a lot of enthusiasm in my essays, but perhaps I didn’t…ugh.

Would I be able to apply again for Early Decision 2, this time with newer or edited essays (even though the teachers to whom I showed my originals said they were “fantastic”…)?

Also, I had my father, back in early November, fax them the National Council of Teachers of English award I won for my “superior writing,” which only 13 other people in Wisconsin won, but I’m not positive whether it was actually received or simply dismissed by whoever picked it up. I thought that would hold a LOT of weight.

Anyway, someone please give me ground to sit on. I don’t feel well at all. I can’t just be idle: it’ll only make me feel even worse.

as for more information, i.e. what was my application

-cumulative GPA: 3.75 something; junior and senior year so far: 4.20+
-number of AP classes: 5 (Eng. 11, Eng. 12, Art, Biology, Statistics, in all of which I did or am doing well)
-ACT: 25 (eh…but I had read test scores like these don’t matter as much for Kenyon)
-extra-curricular activities: NHS, for which I do volunteering and now tutoring, newspaper editor, literary journal editor, both of which I’ve been since Sophomore year.
-achievements, awards: NHS, NCTE (as said above), United States Achievement.
-other things I mentioned: I read a lot and mentioned specifically two authors, Thomas Pynchon and Samuel Beckett; I showed an interest more in an intimate learning experience than in the material rewards afterward…

I’m not sure how much that would help.

I got in!!

Hey people! I just got my acceptance letter today! Super excited. I noticed that no one made a Kenyon '14 group on facebook yet…so I did. If youre going to be in Kenyon’s class of 2014 please join! we can talk and stuff!!!

I applied ED 1 and I still haven’t gotten a letter… Should I be worried? Because I am! haha. I am from Texas
