As horribly superficial as I am about to sound...

Does Kenyon have an alternative scene at all? I understand that there is a big prep scene and big "hippie" scene, but what about more urban types? Are there any students that could be compared to the Bard types?
Coming from the east village of manhattan I'm a bit afraid of not fitting in.

Also, do a lot of people smoke there, or is the campus pretty smoke free?

When I visited there were lots of smokers bopping about.

That may just have been because I was walking up and down the Middle Path and I saw every single person who was lighting up between classes.

Based on kids I know who go to Kenyon, I think you'll be fine "urban" wise.

I'm a freshman at Kenyon now. I'm from Los Angeles....I'm sure you'll be fine. The thing with such an isolated school is it forces people to be social, all of the time. There are plenty of different people.

Also, yeah, there's a lot of smoking on campus. I don't smoke, but, a lot of people do.
