KENYON vs. BUCKNELL

Help! I know this schools are very different, does anyone have any opinions?

ray bucknell

I considered Kenyon (though ultimately didn’t apply), and I transferred to Bucknell.

Bucknell has D1 sports which translate into amazing athletic facilities and a good amount of school spirit surrounding certain sports (especially basketball). Also, there is a large Greek scene. Plenty of stuff to do other than fraternity parties, but if you’re interested in drinking, there are tons of options.

Both of the schools are fairly isolated, though the town of Lewisburg is really nice.

From what little I know about Kenyon, I’ve heard it has a fantastic writing program, and is really strong in the Humanities. Also, as Bucknell is one of the few LAC with engineering, it has a strength in the natural sciences and engineering. However, I’m an English major at Bucknell and all of the professors I’ve had contact with have been great.

Bucknell has twice the amount of undergraduates as Kenyon, which also would change the experience. I think Bucknell’s size at ~3,500 students is perfect as there are plenty of people to meet, and tons of clubs and opportunities, but classes are kept small.

What are you interested in studying?

I want to study something in the humanities, im not sure of my exact major yet. the only thing im worried about is the exclusivity of Bucknell…ive heard its kind of cliquey—other than that I like EVERYTHING about it
