I was recently waitlisted for the Kenyon Review Young Writers Workshop :(

I was wondering if anyone knew how many students get accepted off the waitlist (or if it ever even happens), as I know Kenyon never released official stats.

Should I try to find another summer program (this late in the game, the pickings aren't great, but beggars can't be choosers and all...), or hold out for Kenyon?

I don’t have any official information, but I think you might have some sort of shot on the waitlist…at the very least because I was accepted and am not sure I can attend due to scheduling issues. Which is unfortunate because they gave me an extremely nice scholarship.

but my general reasoning was that if they only accepted as many spots as they had open than anyone not able to attend would be replaced by someone from the wait list. But to be fair my first premise might be faulty because I don’t know how many people they accept relative to the number of spots they have.

Waitlists can work sometime but there are other options. When the Iowa Workshop didn’t work out for us we ended up being very happy with the program at Lehigh. It doesn’t have the same name cache but was a great experience.
