I haven't heard much about Kerr. Can anyone give me some info?

bump. ill be living here this fall.

Look @ my post. Should help

I lived in Kerr last year, and loved it. It was renovated in 2005, so all the rooms are carpeted and the bathrooms are pretty nice. The room sizes are kinda hit and miss. Some of the rooms are absolutely enormous, and some are average size. But if you are in an economy double in Kerr, than your room will be absolutely tiny. You can probably see if you are in a standard or economy double on your housing assignment. There are i think 10 or 12 rooms on each floor, so its not too big, and you can really get to know everyone. I think it is probably the nicest freshman dorm on campus.

The location is kinda on the edge of campus, but I loved it. Depending on where your classes are, the walk will be between 5 to 10 or 12 minutes. Stetson east and west are about a 2 minute walk. It is right on the border of the Fens, which is a nice park (not at night though) and when the red sox are playing you can see all the lights on in Fenway Park and hear all the fans cheering and stuff. It’s definitely a good dorm.

If you guys have any other questions feel free to ask

theres no air conditioning right? does it get really hot?

no, there’s no air conditioning, but it never really got very hot. I think because you move in early September, and are out by April 29th, you avoid the hottest weather. As long as you keep your window open and if you and your roommate each have a fan you’ll be fine. But there is heat in the rooms that you can turn on in the winter.

bump, are fridges allowed in the dorm? I remember seeing a note somewhere that said only some halls allowed it. Is this one?

only microfridges from the approved vendor are allowed in freshman dorms:

MicroFridge Rental and Purchase Information (For all first year residence halls and all of International Village)

https://www.northeastern.edu/reslife/pdf/mf.pdf

I thought that you were allowed to have any mini-fridge, but you were only allowed to have microwaves if they are part of the MicroFridge.

Kiddie-I couldn’t find anything that said fridges MUST be from the rental vendor. My D lived in IV freshman year and used a fridge we had from her older sister (diff U). I think we paid $120. Older D used it two years, D at NU used it one. Annual cost thus far, $40. There are cheaper fridges as well.
We have one more who will be heading to college fall of 2015, so we hope to get another year or two out of it.

Now we live driving distance for move in/move out so that also pays a part.

So do all dorm’s allow fridges? I have a random memory of reading somewhere that some do not allow fridges.
