Kettering University?

I get about 15 letters from them every day, and they claim to be a pretty good school for my major (Electrical Engineering). They also boast about their "co-op" program where students work half the time and study half the time.

Their application doesn't require any essays and it's free (except for sending in SAT scores) so I'm thinking "what the heck I'll just apply and see how much financial aid they offer me", but I'm wondering - how good is this school?
SAT midrange for math is like 610 - 680 (below mine), so applicants are obviously not the same level as, say, Rice or MIT (which I already applied ED and EA to).

So, what do you guys think, is Kettering any good?

You might want to look at this thread from the Engineering forum.

Kettering (formerly General Motors Institute) has traditionally been one of the strongest schools at training engineers and managers for the automobile and auto parts industries in the US and Canada.

I have heard a lot of good things about this school. It is not for everybody. But if engineering is truly what you want to major in, you cannot go wrong with this school.

I am an alumnus (General Motors Institute) & I also worked for Kettering U. Kettering is very well regarded in industry. Grads are also very well liked by top grad schools (think Ivy League). It is a wonderful school for the right student. It is small, with lots of opportunities for students to be involved in many different ways. However, you would have to be sure you want to study what is offered. Unlike a larger university, the curriculum doesn't lend itself to major changes of interest. I will warn you that Flint is hardly a garden paradise, although there are wonderful areas; it's just pretty hard-hit economically. I found, though, that the very dynamic student body finds so much to do & keeps everyone actively involved. The emphasis on co-op attracts a very motivated student body, classes are very challenging, and students get lots of hands-on experience (really!).
