Key Club secretary here. It’s a first year club at my school so a lot of what we’ve done so far has been planning and setting our foundation. Officer elections are in the next few weeks.
Key Club member here! I joined this past year and I’m trying to run as for HIstorian and let’s see what happens.
So far my first year has been fine. My division is fine and my region is excellent. But I just realized that can be cliquey sometimes. I mean some members of the street team are cliquey to non-street team members.
@dragonfruit18 Good luck! And aww, don’t worry, there’s still next year!
@z0e101 Nice! Do you plan on running again? Let me know if you need any tips.
@cxprus Ooh, Historian! That sounds awesome. But hey, even though they may be cliquey at times, try to get along with them! Key Club is about caring, isn’t it?
@The5458Captain Nope, graduating this year so I’ll be passing on my position!
@z03101 Oh, really? That’s cool! How’s school now that you’re a senior?
@The5458Captain Well, 4 out of 12 members of the Spirit Team are like that. At a region event, one guy told me that he was from another division (that isn’t in my region and was suddenly invited by the Lt. Governor to go) but few days later I investigated and found out that he was from my division; Oh well, the internet is helpful.
@cxprus That’s actually really funny and horrible at the same time :stuckouttongue:
So when are elections for you?
@The5458Captain Well, the event was strictly only open to only members in my region so I haven’t seen anybody outside our region. So it’s obvious.
Elections are next week for me and our home club gets to hear the Vice President and President speeches.
@cxprus Nice! Best of luck to you!
@The5458Captain
We do a food drive during thanksgiving and easter thats it. We just run bake sales to make money for our leader to buy the food. Oh, and leadership positions are voted on by members so since i’m unpopular nobody votes for me (despite the leader asking me to run for president saying I would have been a good fit).
@comput1 Well, at least you’re making a difference!
It sort of sucks when elections are basically popularity contests, aren’t they? Do those running write and give speeches before the members vote?
@The5458Captain
Nope, no speeches whatsoever.
@comput1 Really? Why not?
Hi! I’m a fellow Key Clubber as well. To be honest, I only joined the club when I was a freshman (I’m currently a sophomore) because I could get service hours easily, and I didn’t imagine that I would like the club that much. However, when I worked at an event with people from Circle K to help clean up a Kiwanis house I instantly fell in love with the club! Now I really enjoy meeting new people while helping out the community. I don’t have any plans to run for any position, but I do plan on helping out with my club’s website when I’m a junior or senior.
@Greninja Hey! That’s awesome! So you’ll be an editor, technically…
Is Key Club considered a big thing at your school?
@The5458Captain YES! Key Club is the biggest club at our school. Every Picture Day we have to get a cameraman to take a picture of us from a bird’s-eye view because it’s such a huge club.
@Greninja Wow! That’s cool! Around how many people are in Key Club at your school?
@The5458Captain One of the guys wasn’t lying. (Funny thing, they added me on FB). But he was right about the division but didn’t told me he was gonna transfer to another division. Was that so hard?
@cxprus Haha, no, I guess not.
Sorry this is late, but in our club we usually have fundraising events and volunteer at organizations. Key Club isn’t a huge club at our school, so we don’t get to do as much.
