Key Club or drivers ed?

Okay so I signed up for drivers ed and it's kinda really hard to get into cause I go to a school of 1800 and only 50 kids can be in one drivers ed class. But then walking through the hallways I saw the flyers for Key Club, which seems really fun and I might try to run for a position. The only problem is drivers ed starts Feb 3rd and it's after school for an hour and a half everyday for a month. The Key Club interest meeting is Feb 5th after school. I really only have one extracurricular this year which is another service learning thing but I feel like Key Club could really be good for my freshman year. So should I do drivers ed which will get me my permit which will get me my license then i'll be able to get a job or should I just go to key club instead? Another question I have is will Key Club even help my chances of getting into college? I really want to go to UNC and I have heard that they like to see their students help the community. I do like helping people! Please tell me your thoughts I what I should do.

P.S. I'm new here, and I really had no idea where to place this.

Do drivers ed, key club will be there next year. Or if you still really want to do it take to the club’s president or sponsor

I took my driver’s education online. I feel like it’s schedule friendly as you can read the lessons according to your schedule. Key Club is a great club, depending on your school. I think what they attempt to do is great but at my school, they’re just a bunch of people trying to inflate their college applications. Key Club will help more if you have a leadership position in the club. It will show your dedication and whatnot. Good luck!

I hear so many people that join Key Club just for the College App. I was one of them.
I’m currently Vice President of my school’s Key Club. My advice is to only join if you have a lot of friends in it, (or want to get to know the people in it), and be active enough to eventually be considered for a leadership position. Join only if you have a genuine desire to participate in it. Many college applicants are regular members of Key Club, and it won’t help your chances that much unless you commit to it and eventually become President or another board position. Do what you want to do and excel at it. If you know you won’t eventually rise in Key Club, I recommend doing your Driver’s ed and to pursue what you want to do and get good at it. That will help your chances in college more than Key Club will.
