I know the workload is obviously tough in Chicago and you can't slack off, but how tough is it? Is it common for people to go with no sleep? To pull all-nighters? To spend their weekends madly studying? How fast-paced is everything? How many hours do people study for? Can you keep up with pretty good study habits, or do you have to be super-dedicated to work?

My S says on average he gets 6 to 7 hours of sleep a night. He does study regularly, but not constantly, he does spend some time on weekends studying, more around mid-terms and finals. One needs to be prepared for class, many are discussion based. The quarter system, combined with the Chicago work requirements keep things pretty fast paced, but doable, and with a social life.

Yes.

Haha.

Actually it largely depends on your major.

I can say from accurate observation that one CAN keep up a very good GPA in a tough major and still have time for a life. My D goes through periods of less sleep and weekends in the library when midterms, finals or major papers come around. And in between, she's gone many a weekend in the spring and fall with her frisbee team, or doing other fun things. Oh yea, she works in a lab 10-15 hours a week. And yea, her lowest grade, afer 5 quarters, is an A-.

I am a senior auditing Intermediate Greek through the College, and I have worked at the A-B level, depending on the difficulty of material and who the prof is. Greek is probably one of the more difficult languages at least, and I study approx. 15 hours/week for the course.

At the moment, I am working at the B level (I am embarrassed to admit), but this could be due to added stress from other courses I am taking and from my part-time job. . .
