I've never lived in NYC but I've heard that cockroaches are a standard problem, is this the case for the dorm rooms at NYU?</p>

<p>I once found a giant cockroach in the washer machine in the basement of Rubin. Oddly enough, never saw one in my room. Just get some raid if you ever see any, but it's not like you're going to move a desk and 10 of them are going to come scuttling out.</p>
<p>Haha, yeah, some do, it depends on the building and floor. I lived in Third North, some people had roaches, but not us, and we lived next to the trash chute. Also, people on the lower floors had mice and rats, but we were on 13, so it was all good :]</p>
