Kind of random question about transferring.....

I have finished my sophomore year at college with a very low gpa of 1.8. I want to transfer out, and I was wondering since my gpa is so low, if I would be able to/allowed to apply to a different college as an undergraduate freshmen and just send my highschool stats, when I had graduated with a 3.7 gpa.

no you have to send all transcripts from any college attended...and if you've been at a college for any time after high school, you can't apply for freshman status. :(

ouch...why the nose-dive in gpa? 3.7 in hs to 1.8 in college?

ah thanks for the quick reply.

basically i screwed up. i have a strict single mother and once i came to college (in a big city) i had freedom i never had before and thus, i failed to manage my time well and didn't set my priorities straight. even more surprising is i'm korean and you don't see asians failing out of college. i feel the best option for me is to attend community college for my associates degree and then transferring to another college where hopefully i won't mess up, but my mom is being a typical asian and won't even think about community college, although i really think at this point i have no other choice...

I agree with your thoughts on CC...it's time you ran your life. Go to CC...I highly doubt you'll get to transfer into a college, and if you do, it'll be a pretty crappy one.

Why do you want to transfer out? Most schools have a minimum GPA for transfer, and many schools require you to spend a minimum of two years at their school in order to earn their degree.

Where you've already completed two years, why not rise to the top of the heap at your current school? You can do it! Is there any reason not to stay where you are?

A 1.8 after two years? He can't rise to the top...but staying there might be best.
