Any ways to get over the feeling? My home is 8 hours away from the college, seriously thinking about transferring closer, but I've met so many great people here, any advice?

are you a freshman? It’s my first year at a college 10 hours away. ADvice would be to simply call your family once a day, and skype like once a week. I’m homesick too, but I realize I need to give this college at least a full year before deciding. Sometimes it takes that long to transition in. Remember you and your family chose it for a reason. Give it time, though, would be the best advice.

The point of college is to learn how to live independently while getting your education. Just think, you have to find your own place when you graduate. You can’t have your family walk you along every step of the way. I’m in high school and can’t wait to get out of my house.

Contacting does help though. My older siblings in college do occasionally.

Thanks for the advice, I find skyping helps a lot. I’m also missing my awesome friends from high school, but I’ve met even better friends in college, so not too fussed about that.

Get involved & stay busy. Do not call home every day as that might intensify your feelings of homesickness. This is a common experience that lessens with time if you stay busy & involved in campus activities. Daily exercise also helps. Growing pains are a part of life.
