So I am a junior this year. I am taking AP Cal BC (C+), AP PHysics (B+), English III (A), Spanish I (A+), Biology (A), Chorus (A), and Wind Ensemble (A). In parentheses are my grade now. What is my GPA right now ? I am so concerned about it affecting my college application next year. I have I have like 2 B in my transcript, will it hurt my chance to go to good schools ??

I am also thinking about courses for next year. I want to take probably 3 or 4 APs. The options are AP Bio, Chem, Physics E&M, English: Lit, US History, Euro History. What do you suggest me to take ?

Add up your points, divide by number of classes you're taking.

So currently you have a 3.57 -- not factoring in your ninth and tenth grade GPA's.

It's a perfectly good GPA -- just try to get it up this semester if you're aiming for very competitive schools. And I don't advise so vaguely asking for scheduling advice from perfect strangers--take the strongest courses you could possibly handle. That seems like a solid, rigorous courseload to me, though taking two histories and three sciences seems a little...bizarre. Still, if you know you are well-equipped to do it, go for it.

Edit: I might also suggest studying the material of Spanish II over the summer, and taking Spanish III senior year. Most good schools require two years of a language, but they like to see three or four. :]

^That's pretty random. At my school an A is an A, worth 4 points. OP, you should probably make an appointment with your school guidance counselor and ask her about these things.

i have taken both AP US and AP Euro. they both require a lot of work in my opinion. it really depends on the teacher, but at most schools those two classes are some of the most time-consuming ones offered. i think you should take at least one of them, but don't take both at the same time. as for which to take, it depends on your personal preference. ap us is very detail oriented because it covers a shorter time period. ap euro, however, gives you a great overview of everything. if you are into history, i would suggest taking ap euro because it really helps you condense almost everything you already know about history while adding a bunch of interesting stuff you never knew before. but that's just my opinion. go with what you like best. hope that helps =)

Thanks a lot. Yeah, I understand history courses are time consuming with a lot of reading and writing. I already took US History last year so it's not a really good idea to take the AP US right ?? I am kinda interested in AP Euro too. However, the kids at my school said that the AP US teacher is a really good teacher (he is my soccer coach actually) and the AP Euro teacher is not that great. I don't know but probably I am gonna go for AP Euro
