Kindle for textbooks?

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming first year with a quick question. An older friend of mine suggested that I buy an Amazon Kindle e-reader for textbooks, because in her words, “It will be so much cheaper, easier, and lighter.” Maybe I’m just a pessimist, but it sounds too good to be true. Does this actually work at UVA? Can students really buy digital versions of textbooks for less money, and carry around lightweight tablets rather that breaking their backs by filling their bags with heavy hardcovers?

Definitely. Many of my daughters classes used ebooks. My daughter used a kindle when she didn’t have her laptop to read the material.
