KINDLE versus buying books?

does anyone have experience using KINDLE versus buying books?

I haven’t bought school books on the kindle, but I guess it would have to depend on your personal preference and what class the books are for. I don’t think I could handle trying to study from a kindle. It would be too inconvenient to have to study something like general chemistry from a kindle. It’d be too hard to flip back and forth between pages. I also like to mark up my books, so a kindle wouldn’t be very good for me.

Maybe it would be okay for something like english class (but you’d have to make sure your teacher was okay with you bringing out a kindle in class) or a philosophy class.

The kindle supports PDFs. You could convert class notes to PDFs then put it on your kindle. I’ve done that before, and it’s worked well when I need to access my computer notes, but I don’t want to carry around my computer.

Unless you mean regular for-fun books…I use my kindle now for that. So much more convenient than lugging around the real book. You do lose that nice feeling of turning the pages and holding the book, but I like the ease of carrying the kindle around. That, and I can read some books (embarrassing teen fic) without people knowing what I’m reading!

great feedback, jenmarie. thank you.
