I am transferring into UMich this fall with sophomore standing and going to be majoring in sports management. What is kinesiology's rep on campus, but more specifically, sport management's. I kind of want to get away from sports management and go into econ. How hard is it to transfer from kinesiology to LSA? What grades do i need, etc

I think the reputation among students is that they are a bunch of slackers and ex-jocks. But it is one of the best programs of its kind in the country, and graduates do very well. It's kind of similar to how Cornell students diss Hotel school students.

Transferring to LSA should be pretty easy, provided that you have a solid GPA in your first semesters at UM. (I would guess at least 3.0+)

keefer, since you seem like you know about the program, do some graduates decide that they want nothing to do with a career in sports and thus pursue other career options in business? With a degree in sports management, will you be able to find a regular business job that isnt in the sports field?

also, if i decide to go into econ after my sophomore year, will i still be able to graduate in 4 years?

should have no problem at all switching, as long as your are passing. I think it's automatic. Engineering advisors generally advice kids who are failing engineering with GPA in the range of 2.0- 2.4 to switch to LSA and they just fill out a form and that's it.

will you be able to get any major you want in LSA such as econ?

yea should be easy, but i don't know if it's automatic. Engineering to LSA is, but he's transferring from Kinesiology to LSA.

btw, i am in no way an expert on UM Kinesiology, I used to play basketball with a few Kinesiology students, they all seemed to be genuinely interested in Kinesiology and not interested in transferring to other colleges.
