This movie kicked so much ass!!! The whole theater exploded at the end, in cheers and tears. It was long but totally worth it and Peter Jackson's the next Spielberg without doubt. How many Oscars do you guys think this movie is going to score???

Please share your King Kong movie feelings/theather atmospheres/personal opinions/reviews.

i thought it was a terrible movie. horribly drawn out--3 hours and 7 minutes?? nothing needs to be that long. granted, i did laugh hysterically throughout the whole thing. i don't see how anyone could have taken that movie seriously. maybe i'm missing something...

some of the cinemotography was iffy, too. the weird camera shaking stuff that randomly happened? and by the way, i love how they leave out the part where they get king kong to new york. it seems like they didn't feel like figuring it out so they just left it out.

*horribly drawn out--3 hours and 7 minutes?? nothing needs to be that long. *

Hey now - I think LOTR are quite possibly the best movies made. I have the extended versions and I still wish they were longer and included more storylines. :)

I actually just got back from King Kong, and yes I think it was a great movie.

juliusmonkey...I will now refute all your points one by one.

"horribly drawn out--3 hours and 7 minutes??"- First of all, Jackson needed to cover a lot of ground in this movie and I am absolutely proud to say he didn't waste a second of footage. Every bit of the movie had significance and contributed to the overall purpose of the movie-to show how love can develop between Ann and King Kong. If Jackson ahd made the movie a half hour shorter, he would have definitely sacrificed many of the finer details of the plot and thus made King Kong a very unsatisfying movie experience for viewers. Besides, you should have been mentally prepared to see this 3-hour flick since you knew about it beforehand.

"I don't see how anyone could have taken that movie seriously."- Uhh tell that to the old woman, sitting right next to me, that almost fainted when the natives of Skull Island showed up. Or better yet tell it to the teenager, who sat in the row in front of me, who was shaking furiously when the T-Rex's approached. No wait, just tell it to the old man, who sat in the fron to f the theater, who ran out of the exit of the theater in tears when King Kong fell of the Empire State Building. Unless you are emotionally dead on the inside, I can't possibly see how you can not experience every sort of feeling(laughter, sadness, anxiety, and terror) when watching thsi movie.

"the weird camera shaking stuff that randomly happened?"- Would you rather have had King Kong squeal like a little girl and hide behind Ann when the T-Rex's showed up??? Come on dude, its's called special effects. Have you been living in a box al these years???

"i love how they leave out the part where they get king kong to new york. it seems like they didn't feel like figuring it out so they just left it out."- Man, you jsut contradicted your prior argument that the moviewas too long. No thanks, I would rather not have the pleasure of viewing an unnecessary showing of a 30-minute trek back to New York from Skull Island. What didin't you get??? Basically, Kong was a asleep the whole trip since they sprayed him with chloroform. no significan development occurred on the way back to New York, so Jackson being the master cinematographer that is, omitted the voyage back home.

If you aren't convinced by what I say Julius, hopefully the 15 Oscars that King Kong will rceive come March will change your mind.:)

The filming was fantastic (well durh it's peter jackson :)) but a little too long... some of the action scenes definitely could've been cut out. for me, i would get all excited during some great action scene, and then once it was over, you could almost hear the audience letting out their breaths. then suddenly it would start all over again. a bit irritating after a while. but a great movie nonetheless

I haven't seen the film yet. But I am hesitant for two reasons.

I saw the original and just didn't really like it, not really my style.

I generally avoid remakes when I've seen the original, sometimes its too tough to watch modern day filmmakers destroy classics.

Is it something you would recommend to see?

I thought it was gonna be awful, becuase I really didnt like the original...besides King Kong just sounds so lame ( I apoligize to all KK fans). I'm glad that the movie proved me wrong, its an awesome film, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

I actually enjoyed the plot in this one. Well done in my opinion. Although I'm still wondering why the tribesmen never came out again after that one scene (I know they are scared of guns, but wouldn't they be seen again at some point?). And how did they fit King Kong in the ship when they were traveling back? Silly little things I wondered about after the movie.

I couldn't take it seriously. Sorry. My friends and I were making snide comments the entire way through. Bestiality was a prevalent theme.

The T-Rex scene may have been good, but the movie was way too long. LOTR had a pseudo-reverential quality that made it bearable. King Kong elicited jokes about everything from racial stereotypes to ape s to Lord of the Rings.

I was horrified at the TRex scene! I was so sad that kong was getting hurt lol.

And i cried like a baby at the end where they were at the top of the empire state building.

I think the bugs and insect scene was quite redundant.. It went on for too long i think. (the scene after kong attacks the humans and they all fall down and the insects and bugs come and attacks them)

I didn't know what to feel at the end because I felt so bad for kong that he wasnt human but I felt that he did have to die because there's no other possible realistic situation if he did live (like would they live together?)

And then i was thinking, if kong did live, he could've been kept in a zoo, and Ann could've been a zookeeper, and they could be with each other that way.

lol yes im looking too much into this..

I didnt think it was too long. Not once did I look at my watch (like i do with other ~3hr movies)

There's been a lot of hype about this movie (as well as the LOTR series) here with the whole Peter Jackson-is-from-nz and all..

Overall, I was moved (emotionally) by the movie, but I didn't feel satisfied.. But still, it was a great movie.

I don't think you were supposed to take him seriously since he wasn't even present during the really emotional/sad parts of the movie, from what I noticed at least.

The movie was too long. At least 20 minutes could have been cut if at least a minute was cut from each of the overlong scenes in the second and third acts (in the jungle and back in NY). Several of the character were completely superfluous. Jimmy, the black guy's protege, for example was completely unnecessary (or I just missed his purpose in the film completely). And they killed off all the non-white people (not hard since there were only two asians and one black guy)!

Jack Black is the only reason why this movie wasn't one of the worst of the year. "And we're gonna donate the proceedes to his wife and kids". Great line there.

This movie was very boring. Yeah, like I'm gonna cry about a huge ape dieing when it just killed hundreds of people, granted bringing it to NYC was retarded in the first place. The action scenes were great though, I loved the T-Rex scene. Overall though, I was quite disappointed. I can't believe my friends convinced me to see this instead of the chronicles of Narnia.
