We have regular king mattresses (not CA king), and I don’t have any problem tucking in both sides of the Lands’ End Oxford king sheets. I tuck all the way around, though, so the comforter/quilt holds everything in place nicely, but the sheets hang several inches below the mattress on each side before tucking.
I bought the organic cotton sheets from Target in the summer and have been really happy with these so far.
I loved those too! I wanted a set for the new king bed we got in the spring, but my store didn’t have them, so tried the percale. The organic cotton ones are a bit softer, could be because they’ve been washed more, time will tell.
There are two brands that I’ve used most recently and I really liked one set and thought the other was fine. For some reason, I didn’t like the feel of the second set of sheets as much. The sheet set I preferred was Brooklinen (organic cotton) and the other that I didn’t like as well was Coyuchi (organic cotton). I purchased both online. At our vacation place, we have Sferra (previous owner left two set and I bought more.)
Ha, I realized that we don’t tuck in the sides of our top sheet. Well maybe we do so when putting on clean sheets. Don’t judge ….in retirement we are doing lost better than the old habits of often not making the bed.
My biggest problem with king sheets is that the bottom sheet wrinkles terribly.
It does work! I thought once I got this thing on, I could wash it and not take it off. I was wrong, I bought more grippers because some of mine broke in probably the dryer. We will see how much I use it once I have to attach it every time I wash my sheets.
Links used to post a picture, I liked that feature.
I have not bought very expensive sheets but I do feel like the princess and the pea in the sheets I’ve bought. Strangely, I’ve liked the ones I bought at Amazon the best.
I must be the slobbiest slob in this forum because I never tuck in any sheets, blankets, or bed covers. The first thing I do in a hotel is pull the tucked sheets out. I can’t sleep under a tucked cover. I need my freedom!
Me too!
I used to tuck in the sides of my sheets but now that I am “of a certain age” I find myself having to escape from the blankets several times per night . So only the bottom gets tucked now.
@deb922 … That thing really works? The king mattress that I mentioned above, it’s a Tempur-pedic (omggggg I love it) and is not as thick as many conventional mattresses… So the bottom sheet also wrinkles. So would love something that holds it tight!
I have the same problem with my new mattress not being as deep and the bottom sheet wrinkling badly. I feel like the princess and the pea feeling every wrinkle!
I would love to find great quality sheets not made for deep pockets, but still an oversized top sheet. My husband has a habit of pulling the top sheet to his side and I wake up uncovered anywhere other than our bed; hotels are skimpy on the sheet coverage.
I tuck sheets when making beds but absolutely can’t sleep that way. Only the foot of the bed remains tucked at night. I usually sleep with only the top sheet and even then only part of the night. I can’t stand feeling “covered” no matter how warm or cold the room. Drives DH nuts. I often sleep in the guest room. I think we talked about separate bedrooms on another thread a while ago…
It works better than anything I’ve tried. It’s not perfect but if I wake up and the bottom sheet is very wrinkled, it’s easy to re tuck in the bottom sheet.
I hate it when the bottom sheet is so wrinkled. I was washing my sheets every 4 days. With the Scrunchie, the sheets would stay ok for a week. I don’t go more than a week so I wouldn’t know past then.
It’s like an extra set of elastic with a way to tighten the sheet.
