We know a little about RIT. Good facilities and faculty embedded in a tech/engineering school. They seem pretty generous with aid on paper.

Purchase college offers a BFA and their program is comparable to an independent art school within a state university. The facilities are a bit run down but there is some good work coming out of there. (Graphic Design and Printmaking seemed strong to me.) They have good faculty and the students enjoy the proximity to NYC.

SUNY New Paltz also has a strong program with the addition of areas like ceramics, jewelry and metalwork. We know a student in the Graphic Design program and he has been very satisfied with his education and teachers.

Are you in state for SUNY? Since you have U Mass -Dartmouth on your list, I wonder if you are in state for Mass? If so check out Mass Art.

RIT is reputed to have a great photo program.

My son is a graphic design major at SUNY New Paltz. He has been having a good experience, likes most of his professors and loves his advisor (who is the head of the dept). The school has a lot of creative minded students and he has found that the department fosters creativity and students support each other through the process.
If you have any further questions please feel free to post them and I will ask him.
