Knox College Early Action!

Who's applying to Knox early action this year? I'm super excited to hear from Knox later this month. Nervous too. Knox is one of my top choices :)

my son is! he hasn’t visited the campus yet but had a good interview locally and loves what he’s learned about the campus. I think he has a good chance to get in because he limited himself to just one knox, knox pun in his Knox essay. (I hear your chance of admission decreases 20% for every knox, knox joke :). We’re hoping to hear next week.

best of luck to you!

@quietdesperation For a while, I thought I was the only one on CC applying to Knox this year! I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one :)

I had a good interview also. I had a great time learning more about Knox through my interviewer.

I really do hope the decisions are released soon. I’ve been checking the Knox portal literally every day since I applied.

Good luck to your son!!

Check the portal today. My daughter just found out she was admitted! A note on the portal says to click a link to see the letter, but, alas, no such link exists. She’ll just have to wait for the mail over the next few days. :-bd

@1518mom I just checked the portal, but I don’t see any kind of note… Maybe students are accepted/rejected rolling?

BTW, congratulations to your daughter!

@dancingwriter, who knows? But, it’s not the 30th yet. No letter for D in the mail today.

congrats to your D 1518momma!, nothing here yet either dancingwriter.

Congratulations to your daughter 1518mom! Knox is the best place for my daughter, hopefully for your daughter also.

They are not very efficient with admissions notices so I wouldn’t worry if you haven’t heard yet, it means nothing. Good luck to all!

My D is extremely happy with her admission. That said, Knox is only middling on her list because of the location. @amtc, how is Galesburg for your D? I’m originally from the Chicago area but my D is a SoCal girl. We visited Knox over the summer and it was hard to imagine my D there even though we loved the school. I figure that she would be so involved with the college life that Galesburg won’t really matter. Plus, she could just hop on Amtrak to go visit Grandma and other family in the Chicago area.

@dancingwriter and @quietdesperation: good luck to you both. This morning we checked the portal and the status reverted back to saying her application was under review (huh?). This afternoon it was back to admitted and included a link to the letter. We are all thrilled!

S in w very good merit! He’s very excited, knox is in his top 3.

Congrats to your S, @quietdesperation! Still nothing on my end. I hope my decision is released soon!

Did you get any financial aid information along with the acceptance?

Thanks dancingwriter! He didn’t qualify for aid. Predictably, after seeing the scholarship, he said “can we not take the money so they can give it to someone that needs it”.

Quietdesperation - my kids did the same thing but when my husband found out he was not happy. The reason is because you take the aid and then donate that amount to the school and it has big tax differences. I don’t understand but he thought it was an important distinction. My kids didn’t go to the schools where they were given aid so in the end it didn’t matter but I thought I would suggest this here as an option.

amtc, good idea! We’re not really in a position to donate the savings but it’s clear our kids have good hearts.

My d is in with a large merit award. She’s excited. I wasn’t crazy about Galesburg, but she’s more focused on the school.

@KAMmom: I don’t think anyone is crazy about Galesburg! But, your D can hop on Amtrak and be in the heart of Chicago in 3 hours.

@quietdesperation: Congrats to your S. My D got good merit aid, too; enough that she would go to Knox over any of our state schools.

@dancingwriter: still thinking good thoughts.

Thanks, @1518mom: do you think Galesburg/campus is safe? I hope they have an admitted students event so D can get another look. She really likes the school.

Unfortunately, I was rejected… Congratulations to those who got in!

@dancingwriter: sorry to hear your news. Still thinking good thoughts for your other applications.
