Knox Early Action 2013

Congratulations papersails and everybody else who’ve received acceptances so far! Knox is such a fine school. This one is a strong contender now. DD found out online too.

Amtc - is your daughter currently attending Knox? My daughter is really impressed with the school and really wants to attend if we can work out the financial issues. I have been impressed with everything that I have seen. Do you know if they would allow an appeal if she has higher offers from other schools?

Good luck to everyone who got accepted :)

I am an international applied to Knox! I have not heard my decision yet, though they said they will be mailing it immediately after thanksgiving!

DNDavis-yes, you can appeal, but must complete the FAFSA first. You should talk to her admission counselor.

Thanks. We are talking to the counselor and going to appeal. I’m not sure why they would want us to wait for the FAFSA if we aren’t going to qualify for any need based aid but we might have to wait.

Is the appeal based on the merit award? Will they consider other schools offers?

I’m told that it is a possibility, no guarantees.

We were able to work out the financial aid and my daughter has decided that Knox is her choice! She went back to do a visit and overnight in January and still felt strongly that it was right choice for her. I’m very impressed with Knox too. Everyone was very friendly when we visited. She is planning to attend one of the admitted students days in April. Does anyone have any advice for us on things to be doing to get ready for September?

Congratulations DNDavis! So glad it worked out. We couldn’t be happier with Knox. In every way it has met or exceeded our expectations. FYI - they’ve had a record number of applicants this year, the word is getting out.

My daughter wasn’t awarded work study in her package. I just wonder if having work study gives you access to better jobs than not having it. Can anyone comment on what non work study jobs are available vs work study jobs?

My daughter is not on financial aid and has two on campus non work study jobs. One is as a tour guide which she loves and the other is running a facility (which is all I can say because it will identify her). She has been offered Orientation Leader, RA, many different positions that pay without being on financial aid. Don’t worry about it at all. There’s lots of work to go around!
