My older kids looked at Knox, Earlham, and Beloit–both kids were heavily involved in theater, and my D majored in it at Kenyon. We liked Knox for its unusual academic calendar that allows for a theater “repertory term”–all you do for that term is work on two productions (for credit, obviously). The theater program looked good to us, although my kids ended up elsewhere. My youngest S, currently a junior, may consider Knox as a non-auditioned school, but he’s hoping for a BFA in acting. The other three schools you mention didn’t seem as strong to us in theater, but that may be an oversight or a situation that’s changed. Definitely a fan of Knox’s rep. term, though! I hope that helps–you’re lucky to have some great options so far!

I don’t know about Knox, Hendrix, and Beloit, but my kids attend a Quaker school, where the Stagecraft teacher is an Earlham alumnus. He was a successful Broadway set designer, before he decided to teach, and his wife (whom he met at Earlham) was a professional costume designer. I’ve inferred that they were both active in theater at Earlham, although that would have been many years ago.
