fine, phoenix averaged 110 last year....50 years ago 110 would have been considered a low scoring game.

Well if they won't get a ring.. then I don't want to hear the rap, cause getting the RING is the only thing that matters.

it is the only thing that matters as a team, but on an individual level scoring 81 points will obviously be far more remembered by fans.

MVP fo' sho.
I mean, Lakers are surviving because of Kobe. That, my friends, is obvious.

lebron ****ed him off the other day with his 5000 point, beating kobe's old record. So kobe decided to score 81 points.

Lol. Probably.....:D
Nevertheless, Kobe's GOOD.

a SUPERSTAR is someone who is able to raise the level of play of those around him. (see, Michael Jordan). a SUPERSTAR is someone who can help his team win on bad days, someone who can do what it takes to come through in the clutch and WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS. Kobe Bryant is no superstar.... he's an amusement, nothing more...

I disagree, to the capital D.

A SUPERSTAR has raw talent. A SUPERSTAR has ambition. A SUPERSTAR is one who is able to win. A SUPERSTAR is able to carry his team, no matter how sucky it may be.

No, my friend. Kobe is a superstar. Not the MJ superstar (the polite, respectful) but the KOBE superstar: raw, ambitious, and mighty damn talented.

Just because he can go out there and shoot a lot and have the most points out of any player in the league doesn't mean that he deserves the title "Superstar". Why don't you give us some of his other 'standout' stats that separate him from other players in the NBA, because as far as I can see, his high point percentages are the only thing that you all base his "superstar" status off of.

When you think about it, the Lakers are in trouble if they need Kobe to shoot 60% and score 81 pts. just to beat the Craptors. What if Kobe gets Bruce Bowen or Tayshaun Prince assigned to him?

Give the guy some credit. Doesnt matter if its the raptors or whoever, he DID score 81 points. I dont see anyone else doing it recently....

Well, if you can shoot like Kobe, you deserve the title Superstar.
Why don't you go to the NBA.com and see what Kobe's made out of lol?

There's a reason why we know Kobe and not DeSagana Diop is because the boy can shoot and score and lead the team...that's the whole point of basketball, no? (of course, forgoing the "teamwork" and humbleness). Goodness. I hate to break it to you but if Kobe ain't a supersta, nobody is a supersta.

I guess I'll just say it:

Kobe needs Shaq.

Kobe needs a good center to distribute the scoring, open up the driving lanes, do some good pick-and-rolls, open up the easy jumpers. Nearly every good team has at least one or two good power forwards/centers. Lamar Odom isn't that type of superstar, Shaq was. San Antonio has Duncan, Detroit has both of the Wallaces. With a good scoring distribution and good defense, any team can win most of their games. The fact that the Lakers still gave up over a hundred points to a prett bad team like the raptors tells you more about how good the team is. Good teams are always built witha backbone on defense, like the Pistons and the Spurs.

Yeah. It's Yin and Yang. But their too ego obsessed with either to realize it.

Let's see - who might get a ring this year. Diop - maybe. Kobe? No. And shooting and scoring is all great, but when your defense is next to nonexistent, it's meaningless. Depends what a superstar is, but I'd take Duncan over Kobe any day.

kiss, you directly contradict urself. ' the boy can shoot and score and lead the team' and then u say 'of course, forgoing the "teamwork"'
this is my point. a superstar DOES lead the team, not just put up howeveer many points. is kobe a superstar? the guy can't even go without getting into fights on the bus, come on... this guy dosent lead the team at all, he's a scoring machine - great. KOBE IS GREAT AT SHOOTING THE BALL. Shooting the ball alone does not constitute superstardom. A true superstar has a certain allure around him. He is respected by his team and the public. Most importantly, HE IS ABLE TO WIN. Kobe gets into fights with his team, he is the laughing stock of the NBA, 'hey, did you hear, Kobe might not play tonights game! yea, he forgot the buzzer sounded and he's still shooting at the staples center!' he never passes the ball... he dosent help his team... he is by no means a superstar

now, keep in mind that i'm using a more 'pure' form of the word superstar, meaning a true star within the league. one could easily argue that a superstar is nothing more than a player that has tremendous national appeal, in which case, Kobe fits the bill.

this is semi off topic, but I thought this was reeeeaaaally weird.

Didn't Wilt Chamberlain claim that he slept with over 20,000 women in his life time?

Sorry if i annoyed you with my grammer CornellOwnzED10...ever since grade school i've been writing then rather instead of than. I always forget :o Nice observation Boridi :) But when i said the pistons are better than Kobe I was just saying that the Pistons deserve more credit than a scum like Kobe.

The Pistons are getting a huge amount of publicity, they are my team, but all the sports writers are asking if they'll win 72 games and stuff like that. Everyone appreciates Flip Suanders's retooled offense and still stingy defense. Then and San Antonio are still good shots to win teh championship with Miami and Dallas also in the running.
