has anyone taken KOREA 1101 or any korean language class with prof. song? I just want to know how she is in terms of helpfulness and such (a la ratemyprofessor.com if you will).
thanks :)

I’m wondering if a Korean can take that course haha

hahaha, korean-american? or are you fluent… because in that case, probably not =P but who knows?

I have heard of students flunking the language placements on purpose despite being native speakers. They will end up in introductory classes, and they’ll usually do well, but the professors apparently don’t appreciate that, for obvious reasons.

I was just joking haha I wouldn’t spend precious tuition on something that I already know.

Yes, but some people seriously do that, it’s kind of silly.

i was wondering the same thing, theRealVIP
i dont want to take it if half the ppl in there already know korean haha

^ haha, yeah, that would suck

I mean, I can read/write and form simple sentences but it’s self taught so… seriously, I need formal instruction lol
and I’d feel really dumb among a class of native speakers haha

but I doubt that there will be any. or at least… I hope.

i have that question too, because i was looking at CAPS program. i know that basically any language studier must devote a crazy full amount of time to it and its really hard. i dont think i’ll be able to handle it, especially if the language class if full of a lot of people who know chinese or have studied some of it before. like when i visited the school, my host suggested not taking it in the fall but in the spring because the fall has more experienced/crazy smart ppl or something. is this true? what would be the kind of hte easiest asian language to learn?

yeah im in the same situation theRealVIP
i know the basics, but i was thinking i might have to teach myself a bit more before taking the class so im not starting from nothing

^ well, the point of the class IS to start from nothing… it’s 1101, the most basic level haha
