korean population..

what r some colleges that have lots of koreans?
thx

I heard from my korean classmate that the biggest source of international students of harvard is Koreans, which means other than Americans, Koreans occupy the biggest stack of the school population

that's cool

any school in Los Angeles area has a huge population of Koreans especially in USC and UCLA

we will overtake the US (universities), says the koreans.

...i probably shouldn't be saying this in the 'north korea crisis'...
:-/ i bet bush is about to pee in his pants right now with all the things going on around him...o the humanity!

UCs!!!!!!!!!!!!

schools like Wellesley, Tufts, Johns Hopkins, Amherst, UCLA, Emory, and Northwestern have huge numbers of Koreans in part because many Chinese ppl don't apply to them because they're not "prestigious" enough. Dont get me wrong there are still lots of Chinese students at all these schools.

That's a rather interesting theory...I think.

I doubt what your friend said is true. The biggest Asian group at Harvard should be the Chinese.

really? Chinese from China? I doubt it, cuz I am a Chinese too, almost all the Chinese I know in ivies are American-citizens

<a href="http://www.hio.harvard.edu/about_hio/statistics/StatStudCrossStudentByCountrySchoolRank0506.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.hio.harvard.edu/about_hio/statistics/StatStudCrossStudentByCountrySchoolRank0506.pdf</a></p>

Well, if by Chinese, you mean those undergrads from China (not counting Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore) only, then their number is slightly less than Koreans. But the biggest group is really the Canadians. Either way, what your friend said is wrong. If you include the grad students, then there are definitely more Chinese from China than Koreans.

If Wellesley, Tufts, Johns Hopkins, Amherst, UCLA, Emory, and Northwestern are not prestigious enough, what schools are really prestigious???

edit: I mean, I know HYPS are names for the "prestigious". But do people really turn down those schools because they think they are not prestigious enough??

I don't think so. According to a good friend of mine that teaches at a SAT school (80% Koreans and 20% Chinese) in Los Angeles, the Korean parents are the worst prestige whores and are stricter than the Chinese parents. Many in California (there are lots of Koreans living in LA) only know UCLA, Berkeley, and HYPS. The Korean kids that live in LA are the ones that apply less often to the schools you mentioned (because their parents are actively involved in the process). According to my friend, many Korean parents love UCLA, even more so than Berkeley cos they think Berkeley is too liberal. Actually Northwestern has a lot of Koreans because Illinois/Chicago has tons of them.

yeah thats true my parents were very picky about where i applied but many korean parents also beleive diffferently to what you said. I know UCLA and UC Berkeley are very good schools but many korans parents including my self did not let me attend UCLA because of the large korean population thinking that i would lose my focus and always go outside and play everyday, but schools such as Northwestern, U of C, and anywhere with a fairly large korean population you will see tons (slight exageration) of koreans and or korean americans

My parents love Cal cause they are liberal. lol

It's funny how so many people just go to those schools or apply for those, just because they are prestigious. It's about the four years of one person's the most important time in her/his life.

korean takes largest international students portion of yale...except canada(31 koreans 4years ago and there were 30 chineses...)
