I'm korean, and I got a 790.
Is it going to look bad? Should I retake it again?

It's my first SAT 2, so I don't know what's going on... help.

It's my first SAT 2, so I don't know what's going on... help.

hahahhahahhaha sorry how could you get a 790? lol
yeah it's gonna make you look bad.. well atleast you don't live in korea - that'll make you look worse.
You shouldn't have taken it in the first place because taking it doesn't do anything in admission processes and in some places, it arises negative impressions.

don't worry. just do well in your essays and other parts of your application. lol good luck

-_-; are you serious. it's going to look bad?

don't worry.... colleges aren't that picky.
actually i heard that once this kid got 1590 on SAT I (old SAT) and retook it to get 1600 the next time and the college admissions official saw the person as a score-crazy geek who have nothing better to spend time on than to waste four hours in the Saturday morning and he was rejected. really! I heard it from that official.
so if i were you i wouldn't retake it...ever.
and as a korean myself, i read once in a paper that they don't put discrimination against native korean speakers who take korean SATII because it just shows them that you are multilingual and multicultural.

Aww, that sucks for the score-crazy geek who had nothing better to spend time on than to waste four hours in the Saturday morning.

Right on dude!
790 lives forever! yea!
I didn't know what 글피 was hahahahahahaha!
But I lived in Honduras for the past 14 years so.. maybe they'll be nice to me lol!
College admissions people are nice people! you don't have to worry
790 is still a great score.. actually just good... hahahaha
but 800 is also just good so we're not much different than those other Fers who get 800 in their freakin sat2korean

its fine, think about it this way...most of us are american and speak english, yet how many get an 800 on the english SAT =)

but college adcoms dont think much of any score a korean will get on a korean sat II...

my sister got 790 too and got yelled at by my mom...maybe more because we came from korea just three years ago...she's gonna retake it for sure.

I didn't even bother taking the korean test because everyone I've talked to said it doesn't mean anything for adcoms....
Being a native speaker, it would've been super easy, but I took the japanese test instead, since I'm studying that in school right now...
got a 660 though....ouch...hope the colleges really know that I only learned it in school

yea i took nov sat2 korean too.

i got 800 though.

but i wouldnt advise you to retake since adcoms are going to think of you as a score-seeking nerd.

i don't know why people are fussing about 790 and 800.
first of all, getting 800 is easy if korean is your first language, second, the difference between 790 and 800 is probably getting one question off. do you really think the adcom are that picky? (getting 800 still won't get you above 70th percentile), oh jeez, this person got one more wrong than this person with 800, they won't succeed in our university, he/she should be rejected. No! Also, keep in mind that taking these tests can only help - if you do well. because there are people that can't speak their native language proficiently for some reasons. -if this sounded really harsh then sorry, got caught up in the mood >_<)

Man I did bad on this.. and Im Korean.. sucks.
Thats going to make me look REALLY bad.

haha well. I didn't take it and it was a good thing i didnt take it because in that realy SAT Blue book thing i got a 710... and i'm korean. But I'm raised in Orange County where all the rich white people live!! 80% of my friends are white and I have 1 korean friend. lol so yea...

yea korean sat2 was stupid =

HAHAHA, you guys are funny. Yah, I'm all white washed too. I speak hardcore english, and I came from Korea like when i was like a tiny little kid so... I should be happy with 790, yes? :] Thanks, guysssss.

and namkim.. puahahha. I KNOW YOU.

and and.. wantascholarship, don't have your sister retake it again! Read what everyone said to me! There isn't a GREAT difference between 790 and 800, and what if she does worse next year? It's a high score, and she should focus on other subjects. AND just because you JUST came from Korea, shouldn't change things much. Your sister is having a hard time probably adjusting to everything here, and missing one or two questions on a test should be like.. whatever. You know?

@bloop

you know me?

really?

who are you?

A 790 won't make you look bad and don't retake. If you're Korean, it's meaningless to take the test at the beginning.

Can ANYONE come up with a concrete evidence that colleges discriminate against the native speakers who take their own subject tests? I think it simply proves taht they are fluent in their own language, just as Critical Reading and Writing part of SAT I shows fluency in English.

i asked mit's admission officers about taking my native language sat2 and they said "honestly, we have no preference" or something lieke that
