The Educational Testing Service has announced that it is canceling 900 SAT scores in Korea because of evidence that some Korean test takers had access to part of the exam before it was given. ETS officials are giving these students several options, including retaking the test at no additional charge or a refund.

Some students say that they are afraid to retake the test on March 31st(makeup test date for students only in Korea) because as you know there is a set curve plus there is somewhat a relative curve added to this. So If bunch of smart stiudents take it on that day your score curve might be harsher. what you guys think?

It's not that they had copy of the test. Nobody can have copy of the test beforehand. What they had was a list of questions compiled by this one tutoring agency based on previously administered tests. It just happened that one or two section of the previously administered SAT tests were used again without any change by collegeboard on this particular sitting. The kids from this tutoring agency bragged to their friendsthat the SAT questions were identical to the practice questions from this agency and their friends in turn complained to their parents that they were sent to the wrong agency. The parents then filed complaint with the collegeboard and this made big time news back in Korea.
There was a thread during that time in CC that mentioned that questions from this particular sitting was identical to a previous SAT test but I can not find it now.

actually isn't there also one case with the english speaking high school somewhere with the intials HJ HK HY or something giving out practice tests with the same questions to students in the US program?? Its so unfair, so many smart Korean kids not being able to get into UNI's because of some bad agency or bad collegeboard

did they study for the test in Korea or in the US?

& i'm planning on taking the test later this year. i was wondernig if anyone knew any good books or any way i can study? i'm korean but i'm not confident in what i'll get on the test, so yeah..

anyone know any good way to prep / prep books / hak-wons in LA?

If you look at the old book of Real SATs (the red book) and the new College Board version (now often called "the Blue Book"), you will see that at least one long section from the old exam has been receycled as a short section on the new exam (it's one on Longinus).

If you ask me, the College Board is at least partly at fault: if and when they recycle old tests, it's always possible that a well-prepared student will have seen a problem set before
