Korean taking AP Chinese?

I was wondering if colleges don't like/ don't prefer East Asians who take another East Asian language as a foreign language. I know that it's not impressive for Koreans to take the Korean SAT II or for native Spanish speakers to take AP Spanish, etc. But what about Koreans who take AP Chinese/ Chinese SAT II? Or any other similar case? And even if colleges would still be impressed, how can they tell that I'm Korean and not Chinese- that this IS a language which I have no experience in, aside from what I've learned in school?

I've been taking Chinese since middle school and I'm planning on taking AP next year. I've been to state competitions and won superior ratings three times, I've placed 1st in a declamation contest, I'm currently VP for the National Chinese Honor Society, and I was a participant in the speech contest at the Confucius Institute in Boston this past spring.

I’m Chinese.Honestly,I recommend Japanese.I plan to take SAT Japanese and French.I’m not sure about your level. But you see that Japanese grammar is similar to Korean. My sister is studying in Korea, and she can master Japanese easily.
If you are confident of your ability, just take it.

Your college application will give you the chance to indicate your ethnicity. Your high school transcript will show the Chinese courses you have taken. If a teacher writes a recommendation for you s/he can mention your ability and commitment as well as the fact that it is a new language for you.

I don’t think that it will hurt you. Although I’m no expert on East Asian languages, wouldn’t learning Chinese for a native Korean speaker be the equivalent of an native English speaker learning Spanish? Go for it.
