I came to America about 10 years ago, so I'm not as fluent as some of the other Koreans that the test.
I took a practice test and got a high 600, but I know what parts I'm weak in and how to improve it. I would have to study for a few months to try to get it to an 800.
I just want to know if it's worth it.
All this time I had the notion of 'well it can't hurt you'.
After browsing through the internet, some people are saying it CAN hurt you.
I figure it would look even worse without a perfect 800.
It's also the only SAT II I'm currently planning to take, and I heard that makes it even worse.
I'm now thinking of taking SAT Math IIC even though I'm just starting pre-calculus this year.

I don’t think it is worth it. Either way, you will be seen as a native speaker taking
a test in his/her own language. Not so impressive… Math II and probably another subject will be a good idea. Are you a senior? If you’re not a senior there is no need to rush and you should probably wait till after you finish Precalculus.

The SAT II, AP, and CLEP when available in those languages are among the very few means by which native speakers and bi-lingual students can demonstrate their level of competence in their first/other languages. I say take it for that reason, not just to improve your college application. The review will do you good, and the score you earn will be something that can come in useful once you do get to college. Many colleges and universities will waive graduation requirements for foreign language and/or place you into a higher level class based on your SAT II score.

I say, take it.

However, if your colleges requires 2 sat ii subject tests, make sure you do not use your korean test to fulfill that requirement. Many colleges don’t like this.

So I definetaly think it’s worth taking this one, especially if you’re going to get 750+.

Take it as an additional subject test beyond what the colleges you are applying to require or recommend if you want to indicate some level of competence in the language without other evidence like high school course work.

Math II should be taken at the end of your precalculus course.
