Somebody sounds excited

[Bacon Explosion: The BBQ Sausage Recipe of all Recipes](Store - BBQ Addicts)

I eat one of these for breakfast every day.

“so do half the things you crazy Indians eat. You think samosas are a health food?”

Do you KNOW me??!

Have you EVER seen me with a samosa? No.

Case closed.

“don’t proselytize about food. i’ll clog my arteries any which way i want. :P”

Then do it right. Drink beer. eat gnocchi. Not freedom fries. jesus.

1) Beer doesn’t really kill you out right.

2) There’s no place around campus to get good gnocci.

3) Is this 2002? Freedom fries?

4) [Bacon Explosion: The BBQ Sausage Recipe of all Recipes](Store - BBQ Addicts)
Oh. My. God. I want.

Carmine’s is at 90th st. And I bet you haven’t been to Camille’s on 116th & amsterdam.

I wouldn’t classify Carmine’s as good. It’s a fun place, but the food isn’t good. On the other hand, the Oxtail Gnocci at Babbo is stellar.

I follow the crowd on this one. That place is NEVER full. Not even a little. Ever.

Given that it’s pretty easy to find I don’t think the hidden gem thing applies to Camille’s.

I think it’s in the packaging. I went to M2M yesterday and asked for an order of fries. The batch was freshly made and as soon as they went in the aluminum tin, I booked it back to Hartley. I think the whole trip from fryer to mouth took about 6 minutes but they were still soggy.

Any good indian places around here?

“around here” as in Columbia? No. In fact, they sorta suck.

Tamarind on 19th or something is pretty good–sorta fusion indo-western food

So is Tabla which is around 23rd

and I wanna say the last one I’m thinking of is Bukhara Grill, or something like that, but I might be confusing the name with a restaurant in New Delhi

I’ve been to both, and did the fancy tasting menus at both. Neither were particularly impressive. The food tasted good and the presentations were nice, but it had a distinctly Americanized and unauthentic feel. I think Indian is a cuisine where you can get better stuff for $10/person in Curry Hill / Curry Row than for $100/person at some Danny Meyer restaurant.

On the other hand, Rasoi Vineet Bhatia in London was upscale Indian and was so much better than Tabla/Taramind. The lunch tasting menu at 30GBP is a pretty good deal.

most irrelevant comment ever…

Question: any good indian places around columbia?
Answer: well there’s this one place in london…

Goodie, so I can claim the Most Irrelevant Comment award to put on my wall along with my Biggest A-Hole Comment award? Dude, we already on an irrelevant tangent when she started talking about Tabla/Taramind – neither of which are near Columbia or all that reasonable on a student budget.

i might believe the not “reasonable on a student budget” comment though i think it could be easy to work it in…it’s not absurdly expensive.

however it’s definitely alot closer to columbia than london! so it is still relevant…she was saying that there isn’t anywhere near columbia that’s good and gave a plausible alternative that you can feasibly get to if you want to.

^^Thanks Shraf.

C02: the London comment obviously wasn’t relevant, but let me make peace by saying that I agree with you.

The TD bank used to be a Commerce Bank - which is why it looks like a monstrosity. It used to be a Footlocker until sometime in 2005.

The consensus on Indian food in the ‘neighborhood’ is Indus Valley on 100th and Broadway. I’ve never been and can’t speak to whether it’s actually good, or just good relative to what the upper-upper-west-side offers.

C2k2 - don’t let me catch you knocking samosas again! :-D

Back to the topic - man, I miss being able to get a slice and a pepsi can for 3.85 and calling it a meal. Sad times.

^^ I can. Nasty.

But I’m picky.
