Hello! I’m a high school junior looking to apply to Simmons College this year. I have a few questions for current students, especially for Kotzen Scholarship winners. I’m also an OOS student from Pennsylvania; I don’t know if that matters or not.
Stats:
SAT: 1420 (retaking soon; hoping to get ~1500)
ACT: haven’t taken yet; taking in June.
Unweighted GPA: 3.98
Weighted GPA: 4.2
Class Rank: 91% percentile out of a class of ~600
Extracurriculars: a lot; president of the Book Club, working on the school literary magazine, member of Key Club, 4-year member of Marching Band, in the Honors College and National Honors Society programs, 60+ hours of community service, a job at a Christian summer camp, former officer in AFJROTC.
Questions:
What are the stats of those who’ve gotten the scholarship in the past few years?
What can I do to improve my chances of getting accepted/getting the scholarship?
When should I apply? I was planning on applying around September, but should I apply earlier?
What do they look for in scholarship essays?
Basically, anything that could give me a hand in getting the Kotzen Scholarship would be great. I can’t afford to go to this school without it.
Thanks again!
