KU or PSU Altoona?

I applied to six schools this year including, penn state, university of Kansas, indiana university, university of Vermont, west Chester university. I'm from Pennsylvania and I was admitted to all of my schools except main campus at penn state, I got into Altoona. University Park was my top choice and I'm not sure i want to go to Altoona, I think I'd be much happier in Kansas. If you know anything about these schools (pros or cons) please reply!

KU is in a great college town, and offers a very good education. Basketball is king - and a blast. Active but not overbearing Greek scene. It will give you a very full college experience.

I think you’d find more to do at a flagship like KU or IU. What are your parents saying about cost? If they’re fine with either then pick one. Which ones have you visited? I think I’d pick IU.

The one thing holding me back is that my boyfriend of 3 years goes to Penn State University Park and it would be nice to be near him. I know I shouldn’t decide on a school based off of him, but it would be hard to be so far away. I’m thinking about IU a little bit too, but the hard part about that is that my parents can’t afford to pay for my college and IU is REALLY expensive out of state. But I do want the “freshman experience” at a big school like KU or IU. It’s really hard to decide!

If your parents can’t afford IU, then it’s off the table. There’s no money fairy that will pay.

As for KU, is that affordable? If so, that could be a good choice.

If you’re at Altoona, how far is that from UP? I don’t think you should choose a college because of a BF.

If you’re planning on going to Altoona and then transfer to UP to be with the BF, then that may all fall apart if you break up.

“the hard part about that is that my parents can’t afford to pay for my college”

What exactly do you mean by that? Will you be responsible for the full cost of your education? If so, then you had best determine whether or not ANY of the places on your list are affordable. There is every possibility that NONE of them are.

My parents can’t afford for any colleges for me. I’ll be applying for financial aid and taking out loans.

Thank you for your reply!

Go with the cheapest one.
