I’m back!!
I arrived on a Thursday evening and picked up street tacos and just ate at ds’s place. We did a LOT of eating all weekend - so much good food!
On my Friday there, we had breakfast at a place called Hash, went to Malibu and visited the Adamson House, had lunch at Malibu Seafood, and then went to the Getty Villa. We wanted to walk around Pepperdine’s campus, but an appointment was necessary. Drinks (Bodega) and then dinner (Piccolo Restaurante) in Santa Monica with two of ds’s friends.
On Saturday, we met up with a high school friend of ds’s who happened to be in town and had a two and half hour brunch at Republique. We went to the La Brea Tar Pits (and its museum), and knocked around Rodeo Drive. Dinner out with two other friends at a new Indian restaurant (Arth Bar & Kitchen) in downtown Culver City.
On Sunday we went to Smorgasbord - a huge set up somewhere (near DTLA, I think??) where there are a gazillion food vendors set up on Sundays. We did Dreamscape (a VR experience) and knocked around the mall in Culver City. Sunday was the day ds was “handing me off” to my college roommate. She lives in Carlsbad, but we (and one of ds’s friends) met her (and two other friends of ds’s) for dinner in Laguna Beach at the Deck at Driftwood. Ds, the one friend who rode with us, my college roommate and I all then attended Pageant of the Masters. I’d been before, but ds and his friend had not.
It was a great trip with the right balance of time with just the two of us and time hanging out with his friends. Meeting the friends is one of my favorite things to do.
Thank you for all the suggestions on this thread!
