I'm a first year freshman and have since realized that L&S is not for me, particularly with the breadth requirements. Is transferring into the COE a viable option for me? Particularly a EECS program?

Does the fact that I took 13 units my 1st semester severely hinder my chances?

Having a EECS degree is obviously more respectable than a L&S B.A. degree, but in the real world, does this make a significance difference in terms of getting a job?

It's just not true. A CS degree from Berkeley is just as good.

Not to mention there are some insanely easy breadths that you can take - almost as if you weren't taking them at all. And even if you transfer into CoE, you'd still have to do the humanities requirements, of which there are 6, compared to the 7 in L&S. It's a one-class difference.

And no, in terms of getting a job, L&S CS is no less respectable than an EECS degree. I'm gonna agree with Leftist on this one - transferring because you don't like to take breadth courses is dumb.
