If I did a English 102 class with a letter grade of C- from an OOS 4yr University and I did English 100 at a CCC, does that fulfill the Berkeley R&C? I am only asking since I will be just a class short of IGETC certified. Please someone help me...Ms. Sun? Thank you!!

You have to compare the class you took at the OOS university to the classes that are required which, for Berkeley, are a 1A and 1B course. The English 100 that you took at a CCC may fulfill the 1A requirement; you need to contact Cal to find that out (or, alternatively, use Assist.org). As for the one that was taken at your OOS university, speak to Cal admissions, the counselor at your school, and/or compare the catalog descriptions of the class you took with the 1B requirement at Cal. We can’t really help you with that one here, because we don’t know which school you went to and we don’t have the course description in front of us.

Er, you gotta fill out that R&C form and get L&S approval for any non-CCC English courses: http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/fp/29RCQuest.pdf

Here’s the whole spiel:

Ms. Sun,

Do you know if I can submit the questionnaire after I am admitted or before admitted? In other words, is the questionnaire part of the review process? Do I need to get that form to Berkeley ASAP? Im so nervous

I think you can send the questionnaire any time, but it’s helpful to have it done before you file the application so you know whether you’ll be eligible for admission. If you are still waiting or already admitted, then you can hold off on filing the form until a little later.

Are these the same English courses required for ucla?
I also go to an oos 4 year university and tested out of English 1 and got put into English 2. Does that count as having 2 English courses done?

@pepe411, UCLA does the evaluation on the fly, so you need to put the second course down on the application and put an explanation about testing out of the first course in Additional Comments.
