What is the overall impression of La Crosse - the school, not the sport? I'm going to apply just as a safety, because you can never predict UW admissions!

My impression was that La Crosse and Eau Claire were the two “other” state schools with the best ACT scores the last time I checked stats in the college books.

Stay away from the Mississippi River when drinking.

If I were you, I would wait before applying there if Madison is your first choice. Apply to Madison ASAP, and you’ll get a decion by the end of October at the latest. If you’re accepted, great, go to Madison. If not, send your application to La Crosse.

That’s where a lot of the jocks go for their physical ed program. Should be fun.

That’s the way it was 30 years ago…now it is much more difficult to get into. My son was originally turned down 3 years ago with a 30 ACT and 3.4 GPA He was accepted after we appealed the decision. La Crosse is a great alternative to UW if you are not ready for TA’s and 40,000 students. My son has had a great experience there.
