Hi!
My D is a VP major- second year of grad school- who has to buy her final pair of character shoes. Her dance teacher wants her to buy LaDuca's, so we will, and are deciding between the Angelique and the Roxie. Any feedback on either of those? D is in Chicago, so where would be the the best place to order from? Thanks!

Our experience was that my D needed to try on the different styles. The style she thought she wanted didn’t fit her foot well… And so we ended up with something else.

That was our experience as well. Different styles fit differently. D had her mind set on one style only to find it really did not work on her foot. Don’t know of any stores in Chicago though there may be. If she has friends who wear her size, she might try those on and then order via phone.

Our experience was also that different styles fit very differently. On their website, it says there is a location in Chicago that sells them (Russian Pointe Dance Boutique). For the cost of these shoes, she should go in, be fitted and make sure she is getting the best shoe for her.

We were in New York last month and had my daughter fitted for her first pair of LaDuca shoes - such a fun experience. The were wonderful about educating her on the differences of each of the shoes, etc.

My D asked for her first pair for her last birthday. I have never seen her so excited with a gift. We are lucky to have a local dance wear store that sells LaDucas. D tried on some on in black but special ordered in tan. It took a while to get them in as they were out of stock locally and they had to order her pair from Italy.

Hi Mezzo! Yeah, we took a trip to NY last year and my D wore a whole size larger and ended up with a different shoe than we had considered ordering. So have her go to that Russian Pointe Dance Boutique and get fitted and if needed, special order a pair from Italy. Hopefully they will make as big a deal of the fitting as they did in NYC at the store. lol

We walked past the store in NYC last year, peeked inside, but she was only a sophomore, I told her let’s wait one more year for these puppies…I think she will be asking for them soon :-)

Just ordered my S his first pair, now after reading this I’m really hoping they fit. I guess we’ll find out next week when he’s home for Thanksgiving!

If any of you will be in NYC in the summertime, they have a wonderful sale at the LaDuca store. It’s best to know beforehand what size/style you need. But the sale is worthwhile. Our D and her friends got up at some crazy hour in the morning and were in line by 5 am or something like that. The store is quite small and they only let in 8-10 customers at a time. But D was able to buy 5 pair of shoes (2 for herself, the other for friends) all at half price or even less. So she felt the effort was well worth it. Just a thought if you plan to be in the city. I believe it was in mid-late July. It is an annual event.

When we ordered D’s first pair (no one near us carries them), they were really great about helping with fit - even had her text a picture of her foot in the shoe after we got them to be sure it was right! This summer we went and tried on tap shoes and the fit was completely different! Sure wish we’d been there for the sale… ;)

We happened to be there last summer for the sale and it was a zoo – two hour wait and not conducive for a first fitting, so we bailed. We will have to wait for another trip. We will see what her program requires and then make the investment.

My boys got their LaDucas before freshman year – both jazz and tap shoes. I’m pleased to report that with great crea (cleaning, drying, keeping in felt bags) after school and summerstock, they are still going strong in Jr. year! Phew!
My S is going to try to make it to the store while he’s in the city this weekend for tap shoes. Glad to hear how well they are doing! He loves his LaDuca jazz shoes.
D brought her LaDuca’s home for winter break- just b/c she couldn’t bear to leave them behind… :x
I went to the giant sale this summer and stood in line for 5 hours…but it was worth it because I got the best shoes ever for a third of the original price!
