DD and I will be heading to LA on Friday for the Unifieds this weekend. She has two auditions under her belt and is feeling good heading into Unifieds. Her health has been great this winter (knock on wood!) and she is excited for LA.

I have lots of reading material and my IPOD for the waiting and will be there with hugs and to listen to anything DD wants to talk about afterwards. My main job is to make sure she is fed and hugged as needed!

Good luck to everyone at the Unifieds this weekend!

My D and I are heading to LA as well! She is very excited for the weekend and like you, I will be there with food, water, encouragement and my credit card ;)

Best of luck to your D. Tell her to break legs!!!

I’ll be there! If anyone on the boards sees me say hi! I’m a short red head with tons of freckles, probably in a yellow dress or a checkered b/w one. I won’t know anyone there so I’d love to have someone to chat with! Although I’m one to talk to random strangers anyway haha.

Break leg, everyone!

You LA unified folks might be on to something- you have no fears about weather issues! We are being hit with snowstorm after snowstorm out east which makes me a little concerned for this time next year. Maybe we’ll ditch those other locals and go to sunny LA, too. Do well and have fun!

austinmtmom - It looks like there will be some rain this weekend, but I guess it won’t matter since we will be spending all of our time indoors. Tell your D to break a leg!

AlexaMT - Break a leg too!

I hope everyone has a great time auditioning.

Big BAL wishes to everyone auditioning this weekend in LA!
especially you AlexaMT!!!

My DD and I returned from the LA Unifieds last night where she had a really great audition experience. She was able to do 7 MT auditions over the weekend and 4 of the auditions included dance calls. She felt confident and comfortable in all of her auditions and thought that the auditors for all the schools she auditioned for made her feel at ease.

It was easy having all the schools in one place so that she did not feel stressed at any time while waiting for auditions or dance calls. She reconnected with many friends she has met over the years and I have to say that all the parents and kids we met were fantastic. When someone would come out of an audtionor dance call they would tell others what to expect before they went in.

DD has two more auditions this week, then her last one in March. It’s hard to believe that a month ago she not even done her first audition and now she is in the home stretch. The experience for DD has been wonderful overall. The on campus auditions she has done were great although she felt a bit nervous at her first one, but by this weekend she was feeling very relaxed and in the swing of it.

I don’t know where she will end up in the fall, but I have enjoyed sharing this journey and special time with her and I know I will look back fondly on the experience.

We also just returned from LA Unifieds and D had a great time. It was actually very relaxed and it was so nice having everything right there. The one audition she did that was at another hotel was an easy 2 block walk from the Westin, which was Unifieds central.

My D auditioned for 8 schools. Five were scheduled in advance and 3 were walk-ins. We found the schools to be very supportive when auditions for other schools might be running late. There was no attitude of “if you can’t be here on time we won’t see you.” And I totally agree with showmom858 about there being so many great MT students and parents there.

If you are looking ahead to next year I would give LA Unifieds the thumbs up as an audition option.

Break legs to all those still auditioing. D has 2 more to go and then it’s wait and see time.

My D was there too last weekend and had a great time. We only live 1 hour away but she stayed at the hotel w/ 2 of her friends and had much less stress. This is her 2nd time thru- she did LA Unifieds in '08, and got into her dream school. She came home after 1 semester completely disenchanted, and went to our CC. She is now going to try again- she is more mature and more realistic about what she wants. She said she was totally at ease this time around at auditions- she knew what to expect and had a blast. Now she has one more audition at UCLA, and then we start the waiting game. Good luck to everyone.
