I have an interview for a lab assistant job at a local medical research center. I was surprised at the mention of an interview. Does anyone know what types of questions will arise? has anyone ever had to interview for such a position?

I have heard of people "interviewing" for research jobs. My friend's interview consisted of the professor sending him some pertinent papers prior to the meeting, and then just talking about the research. When I first started, I didn't really have an "interview," but my mentor did ask me to come in to his office and we just talked about potential research areas.

Your interview sounds a bit more formal however. I think just be prepared to talk about your background/any lab skills/interests in science or anything for that matter - just like any other interview. However, don't be surprised if it turns out to be more of an orientation than an interrogation.

Good luck!
