so i slept thru my physics lab today (141) and the gsi wouldnt let me make it up. so im freaking out and ive figured out the best grade i can make is a B. how are the lab classes graded? does the final grade combine with the 140 grade? or is it separate? and does it count as much as other classes since its only 1 credit?

wow, that sucks. 2 things:

first and foremost, go to the Professor (not the gsi) of the course and explain the situation. it is more than likely that the professor will override the gsi's decision, you'll be able to make it up, etc. good.

alternatively, if you are a first semester freshman, you can drop/add courses until about october 22 without a 'withdraw' showing up on your transcript. why don't you drop the one credit course and take it next semester? you just have to fill out a form to drop the class instead of using wolverineaccess.

i don't think it will affect your gpa as much if you get a B in a 1-credit course as opposed to a 4-credit course. if you look on the lsa website carefully, you can see the system they use for grading.

however, since the first 2 options are available to you, i would try them. there's no sense getting a B your first semester if you clearly deserve better.

well i would drop it but the deadline was september 22, not october =/. i talked to the gsi and he said no go, so i guess ill try the professor...the only thing is hes hard to get a hold of.

they are usually available right after the end of lecture so you may want to try then... or office hours.
