LAC early writes

Do early writes from Williams/Amherst/Swarthmore generally indicate some level of success with admissions from HYPS? Does anyone know what percent of applicants get these early writes?

P.S. This is the same thread from 2005, but I didn't want to revive an old thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/43855-lac-early-writes.html

Anything is speculation. To say that a Early Write recipient or Likely Letter recipient from one extremely selective institution leads to other Likely Letters is a logical presumption – but only that.

As for %, you’ll have to plumb those schools’ fora to see how many get issued – if that info is even available. For Yale, a historical number of 300 Likely Letters has been tossed around. But that’s a very loose figure – Yale can do whatever it wants year to year.

Ultimately I think this is tea leaf reading. Not much can be gained from scrutinizing these extremely nuanced stats IMHO.

It mean nothing–one way or the other. A good friend of my kid’s got an early write from Williams, was rejected by Yale, and ended up at Stanford.
