Can anyone suggest a LAC or university with an art program that offers crafts/artisanry courses in addition to traditional studio arts courses? My daughter loves ceramics, glass/metals, manga in addition to painting and drawing.

Alfred U in NY. It’s very well known for ceramics, and has glass and metals also plus the usual intense foundation year. I don’t think you can start in glass or ceramics until your second year.

I also saw a youtube video of students pouring bronze at Hartwick College in Oneonta. I don’t know as much about their art offerings though.

2wuhanmom,

There are many. Check out Ohio State, Indiana U, LSU, UCLA, U of Southern Cal, U of Washington just to name a few. I’ve toured UCLA and USC and IMO both have excellent ceramics and metals departments.

Best,
Wheaty

KCAI has a great ceramics program, they have a program where you can tour a place in Europe that produces porcelain (the place escapes me!)

Look at SUNY New Paltz.
