Hello,

I will be a transfer student in the fall of 2007. I was not accepted by any of the schools I was hoping for, but I have received a very generous aid offer from a fairly good LAC in New York. I have decided to accept this offer and attend enthusiastically, but I am very determined to transfer to a small, New England LAC for sophomore-senior year. I found I was most comfortable and happiest visiting these New England schools (overnight visits at 4 places) and when I visited classes I felt as though I could do the work. I'm a white female.

I plan on applying as a transfer student to Bowdoin College, Bates College, and Colby College. I will also apply to Colgate University and Hamilton College. I applied EDI to Bates and was deferred, EDII to Bowdoin and was deferred, and then ultimately rejected from both--I was rejected from Colgate, Colby, and Hamilton.

I feel as though I will be a good transfer candidate for these schools even though admissions is competitive. For those of you who have transferred to any of these schools, or who have tried (especially to Bowdoin, Bates, or Colby) I would appreciate any information about the process. I have gathered information from their websites but I was hoping to gain some insight from students who have actually experienced the process.

Do you have any suggestions regarding SAT/SAT II/ACT scores for transfer students? Several of the schools do not require them, but would they help a transfer application? I think the college transcript would be most important.

Thank you very much for any advice or information you can share with me.
