I apologize if this is in the wrong sub-forum, but it is related to my chances.

Let's say I apply to a university and they find my stats okay, but think my extracurricular activities are weak. The reason for that is my physical disability, due to which I could not stay in school after it ends because I had to use the bus, could not participate in sports etc. Will that have a negative effect on my chances?

I highly doubt that it will severely hurt you in the long run. As long as you explain your reasoning and talk about how you overcame that disability to participate in the ECs you do have, I think you’ll be fine.

I have participated in out of school extracurricular activities, but no clubs at school. Out of school, I have done several courses from MIT OCW, edX etc. I also do quite a bit of computer programming (several hours each day). Do you think that, along with good statistics and my disability, be enough for schools such as Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, University of Michigan Ann Arbor etc?

Yes, definitely. Especially if those activities are applicable to your major, they are much more valuable than any others you could have participated in that were in school. As long as you’ve made the best of what you could participate in, I’m sure the colleges will understand.

They are applicable to my major, as I am going into a STEM field.

Colleges will definitely adjust to your circumstances. It would be a travesty if any institution denied admittance to a worthy candidate because of a physical disability. Your condition/lack of extracurricular activities on campus will certainly not hurt your chances for admissions. Just keep doing what you’re doing! :)
