Lack of Honors Classes

I was unable to take Honors classes early on because of schedule conflicts with work. Now, as I approach transfer, every class I take is either a major pre-req or satisfies IGETC. None of the Honors classes offered in my district fall into one of these two categories for me.

My question is: Will the fact I have not taken any honors classes severely impact my chances of getting accepted to one of the top 3 UC's (UCB,UCLA,UCSD)?

I have a 4.0 gpa and will be applying as a Econ major.

Don’t want it to be a chance thread, but rather one where we discuss if not having Honors on your transcript makes a huge difference. I am mostly curious about UCB, because I know at the other two having honors means you can also sign a TAG or TAP.

with a 4.0, you should wouldn’t worry too much.
like anyone else will say… try to do the best possible in the most (reasonably) rigorous course load possible.
you’ll be fine.

if you didn’t take any honors classes, you’re probably screwed for UCB and UCLA because you’re taking it easy

Yes I’m taking it easy. Haha. Working 60 hours a week and still taking about 9 units a semester is really easy.

you should have a good shot, but keep in mind your major(econ) is very very competitive so even with a 4.0, there’s still a slight chance you might not get in. just have all your pre reqs for your major done by fall.

I have one that won’t be done until spring. I noticed a fair amount of admits last year also had pre-reqs that they were finishing up in Spring. Even for extremely impacted majors, including Haas and Econ.

and there were also people with 4.0’s who were missing ONLY one pre req and got rejected from ucla. (source: ucla rejects thread)

i don’t know man, just be on the safe side and have all your pre reqs done, don’t take any chances imo

I get your point. I wish I could. However, I am taking Calc 1 this semester so I won’t take Calc 2 until the Spring.

as long as you get your pre-reqs done by the end of Spring '10 you should be fine.
